Grow restaurant-quality gourmet mushrooms at home — no growing experience required. Traditional mushroom kits ask you to mix substrate, sterilise equipment, and manually spray and fan the block several times a day, and getting the humidity wrong is the most common reason a first attempt fails. The Lykyn Smart Mushroom Grow Box removes all of that: there's no substrate mixing, no sterilising, and no manual spray-and-fan routine opening the block up to contamination every time you handle it. Add water, add your block, choose the species in the app, and the box manages humidity, airflow and light on its own — it even prompts you in the app when it's time to top up the water.
Full Automation, Not Just a Box
Most grow tents and grow boxes are just an enclosure with a basic manual mister you babysit and adjust by feel.
The Lykyn app is what sets this one apart. Select your species and the app takes over completely — humidity, airflow and light are all set and driven automatically from one of 28 built-in profiles, each pre-tuned for exactly what that species needs. It runs continuously without you touching a dial. Want to fine-tune something yourself? A manual mode in the app lets you set your own custom values for any species outside the built-in list, so you're never locked out of control — you just do it through the app rather than physical buttons on the unit.
Important: there is no physical control panel or buttons on the unit itself. The Grow Box is controlled entirely through the Lykyn app over WiFi — you'll need a compatible smartphone and a 2.4GHz WiFi connection to set it up and run it, every time.

Single Layer — Built for Standard and Larger Fruiting Blocks
The Grow Box takes fruiting blocks up to 2.7kg (6lb) — noticeably more headroom than the 2.2kg blocks most commercial mushroom-block suppliers sell. That extra capacity means less trimming or splitting a block to make it fit, and a bigger harvest per cycle from a single block.

One thing to know before you buy: the Grow Box's fans circulate and lightly cool the air inside the chamber relative to the room it's in — they don't actively heat or refrigerate it. In a normal indoor room, that's all you need. But if the box sits in direct sun, a hot garage, or anywhere the ambient temperature climbs well above normal room temperature, the fans can't fight that — the internal temperature will follow the room, and fruiting will suffer. The same applies in the cold: there's no heater, so a genuinely cold room will slow or stop growth. Keep it in a normal indoor space out of direct sun and it'll do its job well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know anything about growing mushrooms to use this?
No experience needed. There's no substrate mixing or sterilising to learn, and no manual spraying and fanning routine to get right — select the species in the app and it handles humidity, airflow and light automatically, prompting you when it's time to add more water.
What's a "fruiting block", and where do I get one?
A fruiting block is a bag of substrate that's already been fully colonised by mushroom mycelium — it's ready to fruit as soon as it's cut open and given the right humidity and airflow, which is exactly what the Grow Box automates. Quick Bloom Lights doesn't currently stock fruiting blocks ourselves, though we plan to in future — in the meantime, any standard commercial fruiting block up to 2.7kg (6lb) will work in the Grow Box.
Does it need to be kept at a certain room temperature?
It works best in normal indoor room conditions. The fans circulate and can keep the chamber a little cooler than a very warm room, but they don't actively heat or cool — avoid direct sun, hot garages, or unheated cold spaces for best results.
How often do I need to refill the humidifier?
Up to 3–4 weeks per fill, depending on the species profile and room conditions — thirstier species like oysters, which need near-saturation humidity, will need refilling sooner than drier-tolerant species. The app lets you know when it's time to top up.
Do I need the app to use this, or is there a manual/standalone mode?
The app is required — there's no physical control panel or standalone mode. You'll need a compatible smartphone (iOS 12+ or Android 8+) and a 2.4GHz WiFi connection to set up and operate the unit — it won't run at all until it's connected. Note it needs 2.4GHz specifically, not 5GHz, so if your home network is dual-band, connect it to the 2.4GHz network.
Does it come with a power adapter?
A USB-C cable is included, but not a wall plug. Any standard 5V USB-C power adapter, laptop USB-C port, or powered USB hub will run it — most households already have one.
Does colour (Bone White vs. Obsidian Black) affect how the mushrooms grow?
No — under typical indoor conditions colour is purely aesthetic. Choose whichever finish suits your kitchen or grow space.
