A VIND 200 mm silenced EC fan and 1 metre of 200 mm acoustic ducting in one order. The fan handles the motor noise inside its own insulated housing; the ducting handles what is left travelling down the duct behind it. Together they are the two halves of a quiet install, and the metre of acoustic duct goes exactly where it does the most good — straight off the fan outlet.

The fan and the acoustic ducting bought on their own come to $379.90; the kit is $349.95, and it arrives as one order with the right two things in it.

What is in the kit

VIND 200 mm Silenced Inline Fan — EC motor on vibration-damping springs inside a 40–50 mm acoustic chamber. 995 m³/h, 656 Pa, 47 dB, 90 W. Manual PWM speed controller and 3 m power cord included.

VIND 200 mm Acoustic Ducting, 1 m — perforated aluminium inner core inside a 26 mm wall of high-density glass wool, rated by the manufacturer at up to 50% noise reduction.

Why the ducting matters as much as the fan

People buy a quiet fan and are surprised the install is still audible. The reason is that a fan makes noise in two places, and only one of them is the motor. The other is air moving at speed down a thin foil duct, which passes sound along the run and radiates it wherever the duct happens to be.

Treating the motor without treating the duct fixes half the problem. That is why this pairing exists: the fan housing absorbs the motor, the first metre of acoustic duct absorbs the airflow, and the combination is what people actually mean when they say a subfloor fan is quiet.

Want it to run itself? Add the VIND Temperature & Humidity Controller and the fan responds to live readings from a 3 m probe instead of running at a fixed speed. It replaces the manual controller in the box. Direct-wired, no app and no WiFi, which matters for something installed under a floor and left for years.

Where it goes

Subfloors and crawl spaces under suspended timber floors, where damp air sits and never moves. Roof spaces and attics that bake through summer. Garages, sheds and enclosed cavities. Anywhere the air needs shifting and the fan will be running long hours within earshot of somebody.

The 200 mm size suits a larger subfloor, a long duct run, or a run that has to bend its way around piers and services before it reaches an outside wall. Length and bends both cost airflow, so a difficult run wants the bigger fan even where floor area alone would not say so.

FAQ

Is the kit cheaper than buying the parts separately?

Yes. The fan is $329.95 and the metre of acoustic ducting is $49.95 — $379.90 bought on their own. The kit is $349.95, so you save $29.95 and get one line on the order with the right two things in it, rather than working out which duct suits which fan.

Is one metre of ducting enough?

For the noise, usually yes — the first metre off the fan is where the treatment counts most. For the run, almost certainly not: you will need standard ducting to get from the fan to wherever the air is going. Think of the acoustic metre as the quiet section at the noisy end, not the whole duct.

200 mm or 150 mm?

200 mm for a larger subfloor, a long run, or a duct that has to weave around piers and services. The 150 mm fan handles a smaller footprint with a short, direct run and takes up far less space. Send us the dimensions and how the duct has to travel if you are close to the line — an oversized fan turned down is quieter than a small one flat out.

Will it fit where I want to put it?

Check first. The fan alone is 689 mm long, Ø290 mm across and 7.3 kg — considerably bigger than a bare 200 mm fan, because the acoustic chamber is the whole point. Measure the cavity, make sure the mounting will take the weight, and leave room for the duct to leave the fan without an immediate hard bend.

Do I need an electrician?

Not for the fan itself — it comes with a 3 m power cord and a standard plug. If you want it hard-wired, on a dedicated circuit, or fed from a point that does not exist yet, that part is an electrician's job.

Can it run continuously?

Yes, and that is the intent. EC motors are built for long runtimes, and 90 W for this much airflow makes round-the-clock ventilation reasonable rather than expensive.
