UVA and Increased Plant Growth, and why you need it in your grow room.

While it is true that UVA does not directly affect or increase photosynthesis. then, it does trigger some growth in your plants. What does UV light do to plants indirectly? Plants react to their environment. In nature, they adapt and overcome difficulties in their habitat, and exposing them to different levels of light sparks changes for them to adapt and overcome. UVA as well as blue light trigger photoreceptors, the main two being phototropin and cryptochrome. These cause increased chlorophyll production, larger leaves and opening the leave’s stomata to intake more CO2.

Basil, Pak choi: UVA irrigation resulted in larger leaves and overall weight

Lettuce: Increased leaf size and weight of a plant

Peppermint: Larger leaves

When Should You Use UVA Light

Early on when UVA was introduced, it was suggested in only the vegetative stage of the plant’s growth cycle. However, with UV light’s effect on leaf size, plant weight, and promoting more efficient photosynthesis, it can be now be suggested to be used throughout every growth cycle of plants moderately. Using UVA light in plants has been shown to increase yields and health of indoor plants. This combined with a great Grow light will improve your setup and return faster.

UV A for the win.

I bought one of these about a year ago and have been so impressed with it I bought another one. The advantages of UV A include, but are not limited to, the elimination of powdery mildew and enabling the plants to 'see' each other. It helps achieve an overall healthier plant.
If you are looking for maxed out trichomes go with UV B.
If you have you set up dialed in and are looking to get that bit extra for your girls, UV A is a winner.
Again, Quick Bloom's customer service is great, and delivery is always fast.

Overated

I have 5 x HLG R Specs.
3 x 550 Rspecs
& 2 of the 630's and I added a uva to each R spec and the results I saw were Sweet F### All results..!!!
No results really, maybe a little dusting of frost here and there on leaves only, But nothing to get a hardon over.
Wont be replacing them when they finally die.
A waste of a few hundred bucks for me personally.
But thats just my opinion and review. If you wanna give em a go. Knock yaself out and go for it.
I have now put a 4 air cooled shades (with 600wts in them) in among my HLG's and running a metal halide in veg along with the hlg's and a son-T in bloom and yes the power usage is up. But the end results return the outlay bigtime.
The mix of LED & MH/HPS together for the whole cycle gives the plant all colours it wants and rewards you for it at the end.
Been doing this for 30 years (28 years just using son-T's only. Then moved onto HLG leds only for 2 years and now im using both together and smashing it out the park. Should of been doin it this way for years.
Now ive got a hardon...

Instant resin

Read about UVA and UVB and decided to try UVA - Yeah it makes a difference ! better plants right away, you dont really see the light and so its hard to understand how it would make a difference but it does.. noticeably. Got another 2 for my other tent. Wear those glasses though or better turn off the light when going into your room better safe than sorry.

Peace

Thanks Giggle, tlad you like the light and thanks for the feedback.

Paul H.

Hi just purchased one of your hlg uva lights and was wondering how many hrs a day you should run it for ?Cause I’ve heard that uvb lights only should be run for 2 hrs a day.
Kind regards Paul

Quick Bloom Lights

Being UVA, there is no restrictions or limit to how much you can expose your plants - some people run them from start to finish where as some people only like to use them in Flower, and that being when you turn lights on till they come off. Again because its UVA not UVB you can run them and should run them much longer to get the full affect. You should see great increases in plant production.
