Functional Garden-Grade 3D Printing Materials

Not all filament is equal — especially in Australian garden conditions.

The QBL Maker Series is engineered for growers, DIY builders, and ventilation installers who print real parts for real environments.

From rapid prototypes to permanent outdoor installs, each material has a clear purpose.

Choose the Right Material for the Job

Standard PLA — Everyday Indoor Printing

Best for:
Seed markers, test parts, indoor pots, prototyping and fitment checks.

  • Easiest material to print

  • Clean surface finish

  • Perfect for Bambu Lab & AMS

  • Ideal for learning and fast iteration

Use when the part stays indoors and doesn’t see heat or sun.

Matte PLA — Aesthetic Indoor Prints

Best for:
Display planters, decorative pots, indoor garden accessories, showroom pieces.

  • Professional matte finish

  • Hides layer lines

  • Reduces shine

  • Great for modern, premium-looking prints

Matte PLA is about finish first.
Strong enough for indoor use — but not designed for heat or UV.

PLA Pro — Strong Indoor Structural Parts

Best for:
Tool organisers, heavy-duty brackets, controller mounts, structural supports.

  • Significantly tougher than standard PLA

  • Higher impact resistance

  • Strong layer adhesion

  • Better for load-bearing indoor parts

Use PLA Pro when strength matters — but the part stays inside.

PETG — Hydro & Humidity Specialist

Best for:
Net cups, irrigation mounts, hose clips, hydroponic parts, humid grow rooms.

  • Naturally water-resistant

  • Chemically stable

  • Better heat tolerance than PLA

  • Impact-resistant and slightly flexible

PETG bridges indoor strength and moisture resistance.

ASA — Outdoor & Full Sun Performer

Best for:
Subfloor ventilation parts, greenhouse brackets, roof mounts, gutter clips.

  • Excellent UV resistance

  • High heat stability (~100 °C)

  • Weather-resistant

  • Built for permanent outdoor installs

If it lives in the Aussie sun, print it in ASA.

Quick Comparison Guide

Material Best Use UV Resistance Heat Resistance Durability
Standard PLA Indoor prototypes Low Low (~53 °C) Rigid
Matte PLA Decorative indoor parts Low Low (~55 °C) Moderate
PLA Pro Structural indoor parts Low Low (~53 °C) High toughness
PETG Hydro & humid environments Moderate Medium (~75 °C) Flexible & strong
ASA Permanent outdoor installs Excellent High (~100 °C) Weather-proof

Printing at Scale? Manage Heat & Fumes Properly

High-speed and enclosed 3D printing generates heat, fumes, and airborne particles — especially when printing PETG and ASA.

As Australia’s ventilation specialists, we also supply:

  • Inline extraction fans

  • Carbon filtration systems

  • Enclosure airflow upgrades

  • Quiet ducting solutions

If you're building a serious maker setup, we can help you design proper airflow — not just sell filament.
